It was a 100% justified shooting. Of course some people don't see it that way.

Still as I said in the previous story, what would the neighborhood say about the cops if they failed to act to protect themselves, the mother, and everyone else nearby until they confirmed he had a gun and this resulted in the killing of the mother and possibly neighbors.

Yah, I don't know, but "shoot first, ask questions later" is not really a good policy.

Police in the States are too trigger happy if you ask me. Their job is to protect people, THEN themself. A little risk in determining if someone really is threat should be taken.

Yeah, right. You'd say something different if some innocent person was killed. You'd be yelling and screaming if your loved one was killed because the police waited until a gun was seen or perhaps they were fired upon.

You forget, the man told them he had a gun and he declared his intention to kill.
He was charging at them, refused to stop and was hiding something. Any person with a meager amount of common sense would have fired. To do otherwise would be incredibly ignorant and downright criminal.

How much risk are you recommending? What exactly do you feel would be a proper amount of determination the police should take before acting to protect themselves and others.

If a declaration and a threat that a culprit has a gun combined with refusing to stop as ordered, continuing to advance on the police as well as carrying something that appears to be a gun is not enough to suggest that they are an immediate threat what is?

Perhaps they should wait till they see a gun? No, it could be a fake gun.
Perhaps they should wait till they hear gunshots? No, it could be firing blanks or a starter pistol
Perhaps they should wait until they are actually wounded or killed before returning fire.

Once you figure how much "risk" as you put it the COP should take, how much risk should he let YOU take before opening fire to protect you?
Same criteria?
