That isn't "you need to stop telling us what to believe."
If you would be so lenient to define it as such, good luck making a case saying christians saying "you need to believe the way we do."
Do they coerce you into believing what they do, or is it just because they're convinced that they're right. (and who isn't? I'm believe what I believe is right, wouldn't believe it if I didn't).
Frankly, I don't mind if someone tries to convert me to another religion. As long as it's an open discussion, and they're respectful, what's the harm?
Seriously, try to read that list from the point of a christian.
Do you honestly think it's only the far-right christians who push their beliefs on others?
I'm a christian and I believe in science, I try to practice critical thinking, which leads me to groups of people with a high atheist percentage. I've had people tell me that I can't be a critical thinker and be a christian. I've had people get in my face, just to piss me off because of my beliefs. Either because I thought differently than they did, or because I became some conduit to those nasty fundies.
I don't buy for one second this bulls**t that the vocal atheists, as the ones who penned this article, say, or even tend to say, "You need to stop telling us what to believe."
If you're an a*****e, you're an a*****e.
And the people who wrote this are a*****es.
Of course, there are christian a*****es, to the right and the left, and I have my own piece against them, but that's not excuse for being a jerk to everyone else. (Unless it's really funny to me.)
Besides, not all far-right christians are bad, either. Some really have good hearts, I know this from experience. I've yet to find one person who matches the stereotype exactly.
Disclaimer: As this might be a reason for our disagreement, I'm not claiming this for all atheists, many of which are perfectly content in living and let live. I'm talking about the douche bags.
