This is kinda reminiscent of this one episode of mythbusters. They have the old western and newer (!) movies that show people getting shot and flying backwards like 5+ feet. In reality, the full force of a .50 cal at almost point-blank range is enough to knock you backwards about 3 inches. Providing the bullet does not just blow right through your squishy stuff.

Regarding the sound in space one, the only movie I've ever seen that gets this right is Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey.
EDIT: I actually posted it before reading #10!

Anybody that's lived out west, just east of the Rockies, probably already new that the premise for the Day after Tomorrow was wrong. Certainly, if you live there long enough you'll experience something called a Chinook wind. A warm wind from the west, very unseasonable, but a nice break at this time of year. Chinooks can drive the temperature from well below zero to above freezing in a couple hours. It's simply a case of cold air, after crossing the Rocky Mountains, descends the several thousand feet to the plains, and as mentioned in the article, warms considerably.
Cheers.

Most of this list seems like it was compiled by Capt. Obvious. Do these guys really feel smart for telling us these things? I half expected to come across an entry that said, "remember that time that MacGyver made an airplane out of a lawn mower, trash bags and duct tape? That wouldn't really work."
