Two coaches, who have now been fired, mixed in a chemical used in diapers to help water absorption, into a wrestler's Gatorade bottle placing the student at risk.

I really don't see this as a prank, I see this as a way for the district to lesson what these coaches did.

Maybe they thought they were using this or this. Both of these used to be standards in magic kits.

They deserved to be fired.

Perhaps the intention was for him to never drink it. I would like to know what effect this powder had on his Gatorade. If by the time he went for it, it had turned into one big, gelatinous mass that he COULDN'T have drank, then I would at least have some sympathy for these men. I guess I'm saying if the drink was prepared ahead of time, and someone was standing over it making sure he COULDN'T drink it, then yeah, this is a prank. If it remained liquid and they stuck it back in the cooler or somewhere he could have gotten access to it, then they are getting what they had coming to him.

Why not just use Gelatin? I'm not quite sure how this was done either, but there are harmless pranks.. and there are dangerous ones. Harmless is dumping 10 tablespoons of salt. Dangerous is 10 tablespoons of ipecac. One makes it taste horrible, the other makes you throw up... Hard.

Knowing what is safe is an essential part of a 'Good Prank'. They crossed the line and endangered him. If it wasn't for the fact that people are all agreeing that it was done without malice they would be locked up for endangerment and possibly attempted murder.

They should lose their jobs, either way they've already lost their reputation.
