the ads were targeted to mexicans. we, as a nation, have nothing to do with it, and it doesn't matter anyway because advertising in general shouldn't be taken as seriously as it is. it was never about drawing arms and racing over to our side to cut our b***hes and steal our land. it's all about the, "hey i know what they're talking about. damn those american putos for stealing california!" and then having a good laugh about it and then (hopefully) buying more absolut to continue the good times. end of marketing ploy.
