The Adolf Hitler doll which comes with a change of clothes - and a spare head with a kind face Posted: 6 months ago by AutumnLotus
An action-man style doll of Nazi leader Adolf Hitler has gone on sale in the Ukraine, with saleswomen comparing the doll to Barbie.

Supermarkets in the capital Kiev are stocking the 40 centimetre high figure of the Fuehrer, complete with jackboots, leather trench-coat and swastika armband.

Who the hell thought this would be a good idea?

-------------

I'd like to point out that it should be spelt "Führer", or "Fuehrer", but not "Fuhrer".

How do you do that? Plime won't allow the umlaut for me. I tried, but it's gone as soon as I refresh.

The attention to detail is amazing. No wonder it's priced at £100

Check out this selection of action figures, much lower price. Alas, no Adolf, though.

Next up - Ted Bundy and Jeffrey Dahmer dolls - Jeffrey comes with his own skull drill accessory!

I love the "John Lennon" glasses - nice touch. I can just hear Hitler crooning "Imagine"...

Sick. When you think of all the other things people could be expending effort on, making painstakingly accurate Fuhrer dolls is not high on the list.

I got the Oscar Wilde one for Christmas (not shown, but made by the same people).

Personally, the fact that someone is making this doesn't really offend me...if I saw someone buy this, on the other hand, then that's a different story.

What's the difference?

What if they're buying it to light it on fire? Or run it over with a mac truck?

The source information on which your article is based is inaccurate anti-Ukrainian propaganda.

The doll is manufactured in Taiwan, not Ukraine. They are not being "stocked in supermarkets"; *one* was found in a specialty shop. The saleswoman quoted in the article said nothing of the sort of things she was attributed with having said in your story. The idea of a further line of Nazi souvenirs was the imaginings of the original author of the
story uncovering the doll's existence in Ukraine, as in a horrific, "what next?" scenario (http://www.dt.ua/1000/1550/62775/ - Dzerkalo
Tyzhdnia, in Ukrainian.)

In fact, this exact same Taiwanese doll is for sale in the UK (http://www.modellersloft.co.uk/showitem.ihtml?id=22831) and in America (http://www.pzg.biz/figure_hitler.htm).

There is detailed information about how this story came to be twisted into a slander against Ukraine, one posted by the Kharkiv Human Rights Protection Group (http://www.khpg.org/en/index.php?id=1209570049) and a more detailed analysis by the Ukrainian Archive
(http://www.ukar.ca/shevchenko/buzyna/hitler.html).

This "story" has already been retracted by the BBC, the Daily Telegraph and most recently by The Philadelphia Trumpet (http://thetrumpet.com/index.php?q=5109.3384.0.0).

Please do the right thing and retract the story.
