Hopefully this is something she can repress, or her mind let her be somewhat detached.

I have a 10-year-old and that is really hard to look at. At least she made it out with her life though. I bet most of her classmates weren't that lucky. China is paying dearly for neglecting proper building practices in its schools - in many areas, schools were the only buildings that collapsed - extremely sad.

Is this because you don't believe they have the resources, or because they don't care?
Personally, I'm not sure. I would imagine it's because they would find it had to get equipment out to her. I would presume she's getting something through the IV line in her hand, and maybe they injected some local into her leg. But none of that would really be enough, I'd guess. Poor thing, her eyes tell so much. Awful.

Actually anaesthesia may not have been an option. When I was 3 I was mauled by a dog and they had to stitch my face up without anaesthesia because I was in shock, and aparently shock+anaesthesia can cause cardiac arrest. 27 stitches with 3 nurses and my parents holding me down. Not even close to what this girl went through of course, just saying there may not have been any choice.

Indeed, shock + anesthesia = not okay.
Not to mention she was probably stuck there for awhile and her condition was weakened to such an extent that giving her anything more than IV fluid would have likely killed her.
and I agree with

Of course I feel as bad for her as everybody else does, but mad props to that girl. She is a true f**kin' badass. That's gonna be quite the hardcore survival story one day.
Kinda like that hiker who cut off his own arm with a pocket knife and then rappelled down a mountain.

Poor baby girl! *I hug*
Found alive, got out alive. I suppose that is a good thing.... As long as she has family somewhere...
Having gone through Northridge quake and several other large quakes through my lifetime so far, I can empathize with these people. A little. This is far more terrible, due to the destroyed infrastructure, lack of modern building materials, insurance, etc.
This is a terrible thing. I don't know how long it will take this entire province to recover....
