Google Ordered to Hand Over All YouTube User Data Posted: 3 months ago by bingo
Ever check out YouTube? Have a user name and password for it? Then Viacom's going to find out all about what you like to watch.
A federal judge ruled Tuesday that the online video-sharing Web site, owned by Google, has to turn over all its user logs to Viacom, the mega-corporation that owns MTV, Paramount Pictures, Comedy Central and VH1, among others.

Youtube was recently asking me to connect my account there with my Google account ("O hai, it lux laik u haz 1 - want konnek?"). I didn't do it, but from the fact that they knew it I concluded they had already done it behind the scenes, and that it's just a matter of time until they change their TOS to make it official. Facebook is next, i bet.

One day we'll remember the "old" internet, and it'll appear like the 60s to us - something we'll never be able to explain to our kids.

I guess that day will be some time around next december.
