Got allergies? Get worms. Posted: 2 months ago by Magellan
To test his theory, and to see whether he can translate it into therapeutic pay dirt, Dr. Pritchard is recruiting clinical trial participants willing to be infected with 10 hookworms each in hopes of banishing their allergies and asthma.

Worms or itchy eyes...
I'll stick with the itchy eyes.

Didn't they try to do this with leeches?
Somebody remind me how that one turned out.

I would take the worms. It sucks to love animals and yet the very whiff of dander from their furs causes one to go into hysterical fits of sneezing. This science is an example of the kind of stuff we should be concentrating on. Screw artificial drugs, let's bring on the holistic medicine that actually has a scientific base.

If this treatment works, I suggest they don't call it "worms".

Somebody remind me how that one turned out. Leeches are used for other medical purposes. They draw blood into reattached limbs to jump start the circulation.
And maggots have been successfully used for centuries to 'eat' infected tissue off of large open wounds.
I agree with TM, I can alleviate my allergy symptoms with a pill or two a year, but I can't get my anemia resolved, nor can I boost my immune system back to where it was when I was 25. But if I was allergic to EVERYTHING, I might be wildly willing to try this!
