Jim Henson attended the University of Maryland. A place where he received a BA in Home Economics. The theatre department there has been run by a grumpy, mean old man, who would constantly tell you how terrible your acting was. This program has alumni like Diane West and Karen Allen, both of which were told they would never make it in the industry.

I cant for the life of me remember the man's name but my College theatre professor went to UM and told us about him. Sure enough his brazen behavior and crass attitude translated directly into our two favorite hecklers, Statler and Waldorf.
