The next step in airline security may be an "ID bracelet" - with a built-in TASER! Posted: 3 months ago by tigertony
A senior government official with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security has expressed great interest in the bracelets, which would be worn by all airline passengers and could be remotely operated by airline personnel.

This doesn't sound like such a horrible idea to me. Seems like it would speed a lot of things up too.

« Ross:This doesn't sound like such a horrible idea to me. Seems like it would speed a lot of things up too. I think not... I can see both sides of the coin here:
- A passager gets frisky with the flight attendant, BUZZ Instant respect.
- A kid is missbehaving by kicking the chair of the passager in front BUZZ Calmness and quiet for the rest of the flight.
OR
- Flight attendant accidently or inappropriatly activates a bracelet BUZZ Instant lawsuit.
- Private information gets sold to commercial entities looking to expand their market BUZZ Invasion of privacy.
Either way, there is no win-win situation. And I could guarantee that TONS of people will stop flying in order to not partake in this sort of thing. Which will bankrupt airlines. This is not beneficial for the airline industry.
Although a compromise would be that the crew also gets to wear a bracelet and therefore be able to be shocked by the passengers.

sounds like a good idea to to me, but not for airlines.. maybe high school classrooms or prison inmates, lol.. bad drivers.. something along those lines

Let me get this straight... they want to give tazer control to the people who kick people off of flights for wearing a skirt, or think a picture of Megatron is a security risk... or who cannot now, nor have they ever, been able to ensure a piece of luggage arrives with the passenger undamaged and on time?
Next, lets just have the asylum inmates shock each other to save time and paperwork...

I cannot express my disgust enough at this. Big Brother is coming home to roost. I seriously hope that anyone who expressed any positive thoughts about this were joking in extreme.

Next up, why don't we just make everyone wear them all the time and make it easy on the police. Let's attach cowbells to them to so we can be herded more easily. I vote for taser suppositories - then they can do an unwarranted cavity search at the same time.
We're rapidly becoming a nation of whimpering livestock. As Ben Franklin said, "they who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety."

Guilty until proven innocent.
I can imagine it in a few years; "ya know if these things work on airlines, why not require everyone to wear a taser bracelet all the time. All law enforcement personnel will have a trigger mechanism. Of course, if you're not doing anything wrong you shouldn't mind, right?"
It may not be tomorrow, but I observe the infrastructure of a big brother state being slowly built.

I have only ever flown twice (four times if you count the flights back home). Those will be the only times I ever fly if this bracelet thing happens. My kids will NOT be flying if they have to wear a bracelet that can immobilize them. I will drive or take a train or bus to wherever I want to go if only to avoid the bracelets. It is sad what this world is coming to. Really.
That being said, I can see the good it could do, but the cons far outweigh the pros. Not worth it.
