This is a song that crops up quite often crops up on Plime (most recently in moment of sublime daftness from Direwookie), and is often attributed to the Muppets. True, in 1976 it featured in the first episode of The Muppet Show, but it goes back further than that.

Composed in 1968 by Piero Umiliani for Italian Mondo-Documentary Sweden, Heaven and Hell, it was used to underscore this sauna sequence.

I've been trying to work out why.

The best I can come up with is that it's a very graphic demonstration of the opening line of LP Hartley's The Go Between, The past is a foreign country: they do things differently there.

Although, I'm still trying to figure out if "sublime daftness" is an insult or something else along the lines of an insult, but nicer.
