More Legally Free E-Books (link fixed) Posted: 1 year ago by 2manyusernames
More and more authors and publishers are following Baen's footsteps by offering currently published books as a free download. They find that this helps sales and is a great marketing tool. Tor Books is the most recent one. Sign up for their newsletter and you'll be sent links to quite a few of their books.

Good bye

You don't really think I work for Tor Books, you are just trying to cause a problem. You have a beef against me, fine. I imagine you had spam deleted/edited.

I think your all crazy, but no offense 2manyusernames, it does look a little spammy having a link to a registration page therefore im not voting it up nor down....I personally dont sign up to things saying free because there is always a catch to it or one time fee or some crap, so i can see where 1twomanyusernames is coming from....but im not getting involved. Bye

There is no catch to this, just as there is no catch to similar offers such as
http://www.baen.com/library/

It is cheap and very effective advertising.

The free books gets you hooked on the author.

The free books makes you have some respect for and recognize the name of the publisher as well as the author.

The free books brings other authors you may not normally read to your attention.

Science Fiction/Fantasy books make use of trilogy or even longer chains of books. Giving you the first book or two in the series will likely cause you to purchase more in the series.

Baen.com isn't even the only publisher to do this. They are probably the ones with the most books.

There has also many authors who have put up some of their books online for free as it results in publicity and an increase in sales.

also read some of the links within the description for more info.

Ok, Im back. I dont appreciate voting me down and locking me out. I did nothing wrong, i expressed my opinion in a non offensive way and you just made your self look like the bad guy that made 1twomanyusernames have a beef with you. Your policing this site too much it seems and your going to be the cause of the sites demise. Im done with you!

Uh, whoever you really are, which ever plimate you are hiding behind this one, I didn't downvote you.

edit:
hmmm... If I had to guess I would say you were a level 24 plimate +/-. Certainly one that has been around long enough to know that not only do I not work for Tor Books, but one that should know that the link is not spam by any definition of the word.

You have a problem, PM me or come forth instead of hiding behind secondary names.
