It is especially disheartening when children die. I feel so bad for their family right now.

I don't mean this at ALL to by unsympathetic - I love John and I feel terribly for his family.

..though, what is it with the Bahamas? Seems like a lot of celeb tradgedy there.

Well, he might of had a seizure which caused him to fall and hit his head.

I feel so horrible for the entire family. I couldn't imagine the loss of my own child. My husband has experienced the loss of a child though, and I know when he talks about it, the heartache he still has, even 10yrs later, is heart pulling.

If all the celebs would spend 75% of their vacation time in Poohkeepsie Maine, you'd wonder about Poohkeepsie.

It's just where celebs happen to be. Tragedies like this happen all over. It's just 'newsworthy' when it happens to a celebrity so you hear about the Bahama's more.

No parent should outlive their child. It's terrible.

I'm shocked.

What a horrible tragedy, celebrity or not.

It's difficult to find a source without a clear and obvious internet bias to back this up, but Scientology refuses to acknowledge epilepsy and ban the use of epilepsy medication.

Impossible to say whether that was a factor, but equally impossible to say whether it wasn't.

Certainly it was one of the first things to come to my mind though.

It says he had a history of seizures, so you could be right.

How truly terrible for the family.

My father died when I was young. It was something my grandmother never got over. The pain she carried with her everyday until the day she died. At times it was hard for me to be around her. It was my father, and her son, still alot of pain, but to bury your child..........:(

Ditto, horsefeathers. As my Mom said, children expect to lose their parents at some point, and spouses know it's a possibility, but parents never think they'll outlive a child.

I suspect that he did have a seizure and hit his head. What caused the seizures and what was or was not done to treat their cause is speculation, and while justified, doesn't change the tragic consequences. Even WITH medication, epilepsy can cause seizures that could have resulted in an lethal blow to the head.

That is so sad. Parents are supposed to die before their children. Not the other way around.

Must be a hard time for them. I guess it inexcusable for me to chuckle at the fact that John Travolta, well-known for his hobby of flying, named his son Jett?

Inexcusable, no.

16 years too late, yes.

Poor timing, definitely.

Or the name of John's religion contains the root of the word "Science?"
