And, if you do vote, realize you're responsible for the actions of those you elect. If you don't agree with them, don't vote for them!

Yes, voting is a privilege. It's not an obligation (as some countries would like to see) but if you do NOT vote, then you are obliged to shut up about the consequences of any election.
Look at me, my karma level is still under 18 and I vote all the time!

I am embarrassed to admit that I am not currently registered. That being said, I don't complain. I need to get that done so I can. Hahaha.

« rambler : Yes, voting is a privilege. It's not an obligation (as some countries would like to see) Just an FYI, these countries do have compulsory voting.
Which, whilst it will increase voter turn out, I don't think is such a good thing. It would be better if more people turned up for the voting, but of their own free will.

I voted. I feel kind of bad because I've only just moved here and I have no idea what the issues are except that we have really poor telecommunications (I'm on that committee) and the town supervisor is on the committee too and I really like the guy, but I keep hearing bad things about him (he's not up for reelection but some of the people who he supports are on the ballot). It's very conflicting. So I tried to spread my vote so there's some bi-partisanship and different viewpoints but that can lead to stagnation in getting anything accomplished, gah, I hope it doesn't though, I just want some checks and balances. We have no newspaper and we're SUCH a small town I wonder if anyone will even publish the results.
*sigh* I hope by next election I have a better idea of what's going on in the town. I like being remote but I like a bit of an idea wtf I'm voting about.

I missed my first opportunity to vote a little while ago since it was a school day and I couldn't miss the testing day. Thankfully the proposistion passed, and in 5 years pig farmers will have to give late term pregnant sows a pen large enough to turn around in!
One step at a time.

« davethefish : Poo to your vote... although NO ONE in the UK ever voted for s**tty gordon brown... Meh, there were no surprises there. It was vote Blair, get Brown all along.
And just to be a pedant about it, as we have a Prime Minister and not a President, we the people don't get to vote on who the PM is. We vote for the party, and the party chooses the leader.
Mid-term changes are perfectly constitutional.
