Of course he is half white, but appearance wise he is black and that is all that matters. When they were asking people to move to the back of the bus they didn't make exceptions for those who were only half white.

When people call someone a N****r they do so because they look black. Does anyone here honestly think Obama was ever called a Honky or Cracker by black passersby’s?

In any case I am tired of race being the big card. Aside from being black (which does make people take a double look) He is winning because he has a bigger smile than Kerry, and was the only democratic candidate under the age of 60 lol.

In america, the 'one drop' rule still seems to apply....

Even though Obama's 'race' is as much White as Black, the white population would NEVER allow him to be white...

The black population, on the other hand, is very accustomed to accepting these people into their community and their family groups.

Obama is not black, nor is he white. To say he is black (objectively) is to say he 'lost' his whiteness...this is the essential and strongest vestige of liberal-era racism. "If thou art to be whitey, thou must be only of the whitey. All else is mongrel."

SOME of you would be better off in the 19th century when one did not have to think about these things, because they were all "understood."

Because he had to, race was brought up so he did what any person would have done, speak about a personal experience of someone close to you. And he wasnt the first one to bring up his race, the media was the first ones to jump on that issue. Even in reporting that race shouldnt matter they's still the ones that make it the topic of conversation by posting the black guy versus the woman in every article.

- on a different note I consider him a black man because of how he looks, at first glance you would not know he was mixed. I also appreciate his white side and I'm sure he learned lots of life changing things growing up with so many points of views surrounding him but I say from what I know and see he's turned out to be a very well-educated and responsible adult. And one of the few political figures I can relate to on any level. His charisma, his smile, he just seems like a neighbor that would help you take out your trash more than Mccain who seems like someone who would walk by without making eye contact or slowing down.
