The McCain-Palin ticket has been making much of the fact that the Arizona senator wanted more troops in Iraq as early as 2003. Yet he supported Bush for re-election, wrong-headed Iraq policy and all. He could have done the truly "maverick" thing and tried to unseat Bush so as to improve the execution of the war.
