How is it that conservatives have the unmitigated gall to assert that the Democrats are "big spenders?"

2) Why is it that conservatives are absolutely immune to comprehending that the overwhelming concensus of the global scientific community is against their marginal, corporate-sponsored view of global warming?

3) How can supporters of the Bush administration look at the erosion of civil liberties by the administration in prosecuting the "War on Terror" and reconcile them with the principles of liberty upon which this nation was founded? Is it just a case of sheer cowardice? (as Ben Franklin said - "They who would give up an essential liberty for temporary security, deserve neither liberty nor security.")

4) Do conservatives have a secret "magic hat" from which the funding for 1) above is going to be mysteriously pulled at some point in the near future, so they can foot the staggering war bill without raising taxes? Or are they simply confident that our collective memories are so poor that they can pass the buck for the (inevitable) tax increases on the next Democratic-controlled government (sadly, they are probably right)?

5) Why are so many powerful and outspoken conservatives (lawmakers, pastors of influential churches, etc.) so hypocritical when it comes to "family values" and their own lives?

6) When did conservatives decide that the principles of our Constitution, in particular the Bill of Rights, and the "truths we hold to be self-evident" in the Declaration of Independence, are void where prohibited, and some restrictions may apply? If "all men are created equal and endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights" - what gives us the right to treat the rest of the world as if our own sacred principles are for our private use, and how does this advance our cause globally to do so?

7) If George Bush is such a mastermind, why haven't we cleaned up and gone home already in Iraq? Where are the WMDs? Where is the Iraq/Al Qaeda connection? Where is the $12 billion(!) in cash they sent over to Iraq that - oops - disappeared? And the 190,000(!) untraceable weapons (mostly AK-47s favored by the insurgents) we -oops again- lost over there? How come the administration can't afford to properly equip our own brave men and women we have mired in this mess?

Alton @ 8/10/2007 1:10:01 PM

« iceburg : I think the general formula is something like this:

Idiotic conservative ramblings = dumb = down-vote
Idi...
<issued>2007-08-10T13:10:01+01:00</issued><modified>2007-08-10T13:10:01+01:00</modified>

« iceburg : I think the general formula is something like this:

Idiotic conservative ramblings = dumb = down-vote
Idiotic liberal ramblings = cool = up-vote

This relationship usually switches about 1-2 years after the party in the white house changes
Probably, but Plime hasn't been around when the Democrats last occupied the White House.

The way I've seen it, there are a few conservatives that often post anti liberal articles. I believe at one time I've counted 12 articles disputing, or making fun of Al Gore. Half of them were submitted by the same member. I've gotten to the point where I pretty much ignore them completely because it's the same party line crap.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't see near as many anti conservative articles. I used to post political articles about what was going on in the White House, or with the war, but they weren't smirky cheap shots designed to widen the wedge. They were actually news articles bringing forth some of the things our administration is doing. Regardless, they never got upvoted. It seemed Plime just wasn't interested in political articles, so I stopped.

This article is nothing but more right wing BS. Several liberals did indeed answer the questions, and if posted in the forums, you would have probably gotten more. I even started and then I was like, "Why bother". Conservatives don't really want to know, and aren't going to listen to your answers. It's just attacking the other side.

I would like to say if anyone sees me posting liberal articles attacking conservatives, please bring it to my attention. And for the ones that do, on either side, anything you gain by your liberal/conservative buddies, you lose just as much from the ones on the other side. I'm all for political discussions, but talking points and belittling the other side is not discussing as an adult in any form.

iceburg @ 8/10/2007 4:18:54 AM

« 2manyusernames : I imagine someone felt it was insulting to their politics and didn't want to discuss it in a adult manner
I think the g...
<issued>2007-08-10T04:18:54+01:00</issued><modified>2007-08-10T04:18:54+01:00</modified>

« 2manyusernames : I imagine someone felt it was insulting to their politics and didn't want to discuss it in a adult manner
I think the general formula is something like this:

Idiotic conservative ramblings = dumb = down-vote
Idiotic liberal ramblings = cool = up-vote

This relationship usually switches about 1-2 years after the party in the white house changes

shoestix @ 8/9/2007 9:44:17 PM

one time, i found a wing nut at the bottom of my bong.
<issued>2007-08-09T21:44:17+01:00</issued><modified>2007-08-09T21:44:17+01:00</modified>
one time, i found a wing nut at the bottom of my bong.

ArchAngel @ 8/9/2007 8:11:27 PM

stuff like this hits all other parties.
why not liberals? only fair.

but just like the other "ah! And the issue with climate change isn't just "who's guilty". It's also an issue of how much it may change and how quickly. If global climates change severely enough, it could spell massive hardship for billions, and that includes Americans. We ought to be prepared foe whatever happens, and that means learning, not ignoring.

[3]- The U.S. had no legal basis for pre-emptive war with Germany in the '30s. It has no such basis now against Iran. At any rate, if the U.S. is entitled to have nuclear weapons, then other countries are as well. The U.S. is not privileged.

[4]- To pay for the massive military spending by the Republican government.

[5]- It doesn't matter what "viable" is. What matters is whose business it is what a woman does within the sovereign territory of her own body. The Government's business it ain't.

[6]- Because we must be better than those who engage in immoral conduct.

[7]- Just because some people think Bush is literally an idiot doesn't mean the same people think he single-handedly pulled off any of these things. He didn't arrange the 9/11 attacks. He didn't win the elections via fraud on his part. And so on. Bush isn't the totality of the U.S. government; there are also the legislative & judicial branches. They too are at fault, as well as a large portion of the constituency. Bush is a dufus, but there are many more dufuses at work. Bush is symptomatic of political decay.

DemureArt @ 8/9/2007 2:08:05 PM

I think the response posted at the end of the article says it all.
<issued>2007-08-09T14:08:05+01:00</issued><modified>2007-08-09T14:08:05+01:00</modified>
I think the response posted at the end of the article says it all.

belvario @ 8/9/2007 1:37:22 PM

Troll.
<issued>2007-08-09T13:37:22+01:00</issued><modified>2007-08-09T13:37:22+01:00</modified>
Troll.
