Ok NO ONE in their right mind (and often in their not right mind) touches ANYTHING that's been on the floor of a public restroom. Homeless people put newspaper down before napping on the floor.

And as for the stance? If you can't curtail your extremely strange bathroom habits in public, you should not be in office. Self-control is paramount for a public servant, especially if it's something you're already aware of (unless you did a survey after your arrest to find out that your stance is "unusually wide"). Sounds like lawyer back-pedaling for damage control to me.
