Larry Craig Re-enactment [video]
”He peered into my stall, then down to his hands, which he was wringing, then back into my stall. I could see his blue eyes. This went on for about two minutes”
Guilty or not, gay or not, that is very creepy. picked by buddha 1 year ago

"creepy"? Not really. Actually what he did, wasn't illegal at all. arresting him for that is going to far, the cop should have waited till something was actually done.

All that happened:

Craig placed his bag in front of stall door (to block view of course, but that is a supposition, and any case isn't illegal)

tapped his foot, touched the neighboring stall occupant's foot with his foot and wiggled his fingers.

Again, obviously he was asking to engage in adult consensual sex. However that can not be proven. You can prove his intent, no matter how obvious it was.

In any case, nothing was done, he was checking out the scene and was arrested before something happened that would be incontrivable proof of illicit behavior.

If a man goes to a corner where there are hookers, checks them out, perhaps talks with them, even pulls out his wallet to check how much he has on him, he hasn't committed a crime, only when he offers money for sex.

Even if he asked one of them for a date, that in itself isn't a crime, he could be asking for a date. It has to be an actual money for sex to be a chargeable offense.

See, what Craig did, although I am not condoning it, wasn't illegal.

I didn't see that part. That is a bit different.

Still if that happened, you have 2 problems.

1) He still did not commit an illicit act that is provable. Yes, he wanted to, but he was arrested before the desire went too far.

2) The cop was obviously and admitably there to entrap people wanting to engage in sex in a private stall.

Looking into the stall while washing his hands is a signal, it is obviously a way to check out the territory, to see if the occupant is a willing participant.

The fact that the cop didn't get offended or pissed off as innocent person could be taken as a form of entrapment.

Let's face it, if you were in the stall and someone was staring at you, you would react in some way.

So you have 2 possible results:

1) he stares for a couple of seconds, if the guy isn't interested he makes it obvious, no harm no foul, nothing that creepy

(if it was a unisex bathroom and it was some girl, you wouldn't call it creepy. It is only creepy to you because you are straight.)

2)He stares for a couple of seconds, the man doesn't object,. maybe gives him a better view, and then the next step in the dance can continue.

Just saying "creepy" is a poor choice of words. Wrong, illegal (if continued), idiotic, yes. Just not creepy.

Fair enough, but I never said it was illegal, I just felt a bit creeped out about some 50-60 year old dude eyballing someone in a bathroom stall in order to "alegedly" have sex with, in a public restroom. Maybe it's just me, but, for me, sex has two major requirements:

1) must be with a female.

2) must be some place cleaner than a public restroom.

Granted, I have more, but those are the two biggest ones. I actually have a whole flow chart discribing my requirements, but it's too complicated for this forum ;)

Ha ha... Yes, I would feel creepy as well, i was saying his actions in themselves weren't creepy.
Well, the initial eye-contact isn't creepy. If he continued to stare uninvited, then yes that is creepy. The cop made it clear he was okay with being checked out, the cop did this to arrest people as is his job.

it is our reaction because we are straight that makes us feel creeped out.

When you are eyeballing, ogling some hot girl, she may be creeped out, but that doesn't make the action itself creepy. That is just how she reacts.
Again, if you are checking out some girl and she seems pleased by the fact, continuing to look at her isn't creepy. Only if is clear that she isn't interested then it becomes creepy

If some 60 year old guy was staring at some girl on the beach, she might laugh it off at first. The man sees the girl laugh at him and leaves her alone. No harm, no foul, nothing creepy on his part. If he continues to stare at her even knowing she isn't interested, that she is in fact disgusted by it, than it becomes creepy.

2man, you have at least that aspect of women figured out!

You must be quite smart. You should share this bit of wisdom with as many members of your gender as possible!
