Can someone please add a picture to this. Once again, the image uploader is buggy.

A cropped version of this would be nice, but anything would be appreciated.

You mean the same San Francisco that refused to let a WWII war ship dock there. Well I am just shocked... who would have guessed the SF government would play politics with... EVERYTHING?!

PS
Tried to put a picture up... but it's not you... it's the site. Apparently having trouble putting an image in.

Another reason I don't like SF all that much. We lived up there once and the city was just, well, weird. The tourist attractions were nice but the politics and weirdness on the news was just appalling. This is just another in the batch.

I think it's good that a city excercises it's ethical/moral/political muscle as it sees fit. Isn't that the point behind local governments?

I can understand why they wouldn't want the Silent Drill Platoon there. They're so dull and unimpressive.

No, the point of local government is to manage the area on a more personal level then a large federal government would be able to.

Kinda like how in a school district there is one Superintendent, Principals in each school, AND then Deans for the various classes.

This woman is using her own political beliefs to come up with reasons to deny the Marines... and that's insulting.

It isn't the "city". It is this one individual.
Who should have been overrode by the Mayor.

Her job is to best serve the city of San Francisco. She is letting her political beliefs get in the way of her job duties.

Also, lets face it. Where would San Francisco be without the Marines and the federal government? They be in a world of trouble.

First off, SF is a liberal city and its mayor has never been a fan of military posturing.

Second (more importantly) I used to live up there, and California Street is a major, major street in the Financial District. If that road were cut off for a few hours, all hell would break loose. She is serving the public by not letting this road shutdown the city for a day for a commercial that can be filmed 45,000 other places.

Lastly, SF and Cali as a whole would be just fine without the federal government - they're light years ahead of federal issues on the environment, finance, equality, etc. etc.

A. Other commercials are shot there.
B. The marines could film a commercial, only if there were no actual marines present because of the woman's politics.
C. If you think California/SF can get by without any sort of federal monies or protection you really really need to educate yourself.
