i'm so confused. the whole process of them being demoted doesn't make much sense. i mean what the guys were doing, "dogging", was illegal in the first place so why should the firemen be punished for spotting it? i mean is it illegal to shine a light on someone acting publically indescent? kooky rules

I think it wasn't because they spotted illegal activity that they got booted, but because they weren't in the firedepartment when they should've been.

Would've been bit awkward if a fire broke out, and no firemen were in the firedepartment.
This was the equivalent of being AWOL.

At least, that is how I understand it.

I can understand a couple trying to do something risque and having sex in a park at night, but four people. I feel like group sex would be a little bit more of a production.

No, they got fined and demoted strictly and completely due to politcal correctness. They embarrassed the quad screwing. For this EvilDeed, they are now screwed.

They were charged with "misuse of fire equipment" which was the freaking flashlight!

No where in the article does it mention that the fire station was empty or that they were awol. You are allowed to be outside of the fire station. I am sure there was a group of firemen in the station. These few men did not make up the entire roster of firemen assigned to that station.

The whole thing is obscene. The ones who broke the law get away with it, the ones who did nothing illegal, immoral, unethical, or "unbecoming an officer" get a huge fine, and a tremendous loss of salary.
