If we were rational, we would just compute the odds of succeeding from this point forward and then decide if the investment warrants the potential payoff. But we are not rational--not in love or war or business--and this particular irrationality is what economists call the "sunk-cost fallacy."

An interesting read... although I disagree with the final assertion, that if Bush came out and said he was wrong, and apologized... his popularity would sky rocket.
Methinks not. Unless Bush were to call for orders to impeach himself, I can't imagine much of a change... at least for a certain sect of the population.

I don't know about anyone else, but I would respect him more. It is one thing to keep going on the wrong path, it is another to stop and admit it you were wrong, and proceed to start on the right path.
