Seeing as we're not dealing with a bunch of murdering lunatics, I don't find this much of a problem at all. The jails are overcrowded, underfunded, and they make the gallows look fairly humane.

yeah, the war on 'drugs' is serving the same function as our colleges and universities...

they both serve to keep laborers out of the labor market, which is insufficient to account for them.

our prison rate is absurd.

Agreed, it is appaling how many people are jailed for substance abuse... Many of whome will return back to prison for the same crime.
