 Is Oprah A Racist?
Is Oprah A Racist?
Burt Prelutsky's rather rambling opinion piece wondering if Oprah is racist for only supporting Obama results in hundreds (395 at this time) of comments. picked by 2manyusernames 11 months ago

The piece isn't very well written. For an article entitled "is oprah racist" it seems odd that the question is brought up almost as an after thought in the last 3 or so paragraphs none of which have much substance and a too hard attempt at humor.

I do wonder about one of his last lines. "If a Mormon TV talk show host refused to have any of the candidates on his show other than Mitt Romney or if Larry King banished everyone who wasn’t Jewish from his domain"

Still I wonder... Is voting FOR someone because they share a trait racist? Obviously voting AGAINST someone solely because they don't share a certain trait is racist, but is the opposite true? Probably not, depending on your definition of racism.

Are the women who will vote for Hillary solely because she is a woman being misandrists? Probably not.

Are men (or women) who vote against Hillary solely because she is a woman being misogynist? Maybe.

That seems to buy into the notion of 'reverse racism'... which is a bogus concept. Either you give a certain race (religion, sex, etc.) special treatment (good, bad, etc.)... or you don't.

If someone is determined to vote one way or another for Obama, simply because of his race... yes, they are a racist.

Same thing for any and all of the other candidates.

I think this guy brings up a valid point. He's a racist! I'm not an Obama follower because he doesn't have the experience to be the leader of our nation. I agree with 2man that this is poorly written...and it leaves a bad taste in my mouth of "secondary citizens"(If your dark skinned, or a woman, you don't count).
