I think this is a very good thing. Too many people practice "straight party voting" (otherwise known as "herd mentality"). This is the better way; first decide what you believe, then find the candidate that best represents those beliefs.
Right on, Unzer.

gravel, kucinich, Obama, Clinton, Edwards...
Not bad, but I am mostly an Edwards-supporter...I think he has more character than Clinton and Obama, each of whom I believe has a lot more 'slick compromise' to them...I think Edwards has more integrity, i like his JimmyCarter-ness, and I believe he acts out of principle and then expediency, rather than the other way around.
also, i believe there is likely a very good reason why ABCNNBCBSFOX center their attention on Clinton and Obama, rather than Edwards...and I do not think that it is viability...
On another note...most of us seem to be more attuned to Gravel and Kucinich...what is the common denominator...is it....the ganja???? hmmm??? It seemed to be the sole reason why Edwards was 5th, rather than...*cough*...higher.

I don't smoke "ganja" but I still supported Gravel when I thought he stood a chance, there's a lot more to him than that.

« unzercharlie : I don't smoke "ganja" but I still supported Gravel when I thought he stood a chance, there's a lot more to him than that. it was a toke...i mean a joke, man...sorry...
As for Paul...I really love a lot about him, though as a historian I would be remiss if I didn't point out the brutality of late 19th-early 20th century economic policy...The 1930s depression would not have been so bad if not for Hoover's reliance on the old way of thinking...thank god for FDR...
But Paul's stances on abortion (i don't mind the state choice thing, just the possible federal prohibition) generally kills it for me...
ON the other hand, however, Presidents rarely make the decisions about or on policy that they claim they will or do...We would do well to focus on the Congress and the Judicial branch a little more, rather than the slap-fest b***h-fight that is the Presidential race...

When it comes to choosing a president you also have to consider their limitations. Most of the things I don't like about Paul don't bother me because I know they will never happen if he becomes president since he doesn't have the power to change a lot of the things that he would like to.

If it wasn't for the fact that he has no chance in hell of winning, I'd totaly vote for Kucinich. I'd rather have someone who believes in UFO's than someone who believe's their god should run the government.
