Clinton Health Plan Could Garnish Wages
Clinton Health Plan Could Garnish Wages
Clinton has not always specified the enforcement measures she would embrace for universal health care, but when pressed on ABC's "This Week," she said: "I think there are a number of mechanisms" that are possible, including "going after people's wages, automatic enrollment." picked by Marli 8 months ago

Sooooo.....

Where else is the money supposed to come from again?

Universal health coverage is going to cost money, and that money will have to come from the earning population as some form of taxation.

That's kinda the way it works in the absence of magic money trees.

When people say "the Democrats are moving toward socialism" people guffaw and claim exaggerated polemic, but you see something like this and I don't know what else to call it. Government: "Buy our crappy crap...or else"

Whether you like or dislike the idea, try to figure the odds of getting a notion like this past both houses of congress.

Now try to analyze all the "promises" the candidates make, and I do mean all of them, and see how many pass the "Both Houses" test.

Most of them are not going to happen. Ever.

That is not socialism.
With the same effort you could say they are going toward Anarchism, because that is not Anarchism either.

What dolly said. By this logic, you should already be outraged that the government is "garnishing" [sic] up to 33% of your wages to pay for itself. Well, not itself, actually, just part of itself, plus interest on the debt it's going into to borrow money to pay for the rest of itself.

Thank-you. I get annoyed when these terms are used so loosely and incorrectly.

I get frustrated when people say Canada's gov't is socialist - because we're pretty far from it.

Have you ever worked on a field? I am happy with the office. Now I know for what was the mandatory field work good. 10 consecutive workdays in each academic year. Nobody in sane mind wanted to be a farmer.

I want my field work back. I positively hate being in an office all day.

I also know lots of people who want to be the farmers they are, including a few of my siblings. Farming is their life and they love it.

Well, I would not mind either as long as I can hire Mexicans to do the tough part of the job.
