The briber gets 12 years and more than a million dollars in fines. The bribee who logic would tell you took other bribes and in any case had a sworn duty to uphold the law, the constitution, and the good of his constituents gets 8 years. You also know that the prison that he is staying at is far far less severe and harsh than the one the contractor will be at.

If the politician got $700k in bribes, give him a fine of $7m and 12 years in the same prison as everyone else. He quit working for the people when he took the bribe again and again. He doesn't deserve the extra benefits that go along with the job.

I imagine I should be happy with the 8 years that the congresman got. It is extremely rare for one to be actually charged let alone convicted.

Some, such as the democrat, Representative William Jefferson of Louisiana have the balls to say that since the FBI did the raid (with the okay from a federal judge)and found the evidence, much of the evidence is inadmissible due to separation of powers. A Judge said no, but surprise surprise, they were able to find a set of judges who agreed with that asinine idea.

We will see what happens with that case.

Of course what is even more disgusting is the rarity of news stories covering such things.

You get one republican allegedly engaging in what he ws led to believe was going to be consensual sex and it is huge news for months. Something like this happens and it isn't even a blip.

I don't care if my politicians are getting or giving bj's as long as they aren't corrupt.
