Obama photo in turban, robe causes stir Posted: 9 months ago by bevissimo
No they're getting petty - what politician hasn't donned 'traditional garb' to win favor?
A photograph circulating on the Internet of Democratic Sen. Barack Obama dressed in traditional local garments during a visit to Kenya in 2006 is causing a dustup in the presidential campaign over what constitutes a smear.

If anything, this makes me like him even more. Good foreign relations are very important, now more than ever.

I don't understand. Is he wearing it wrong or something? What about this is "smeary"?

I think the implication is that the Clinton campaign released it to make him look more Muslim and radical sympathetic? If not that something along those lines.
The Clinton campaign denies that that is the case. Sort of a he said she said kindda thing.

It isn't even a matter of him being open to different culures. It is hardly unusual for anyone, let alone a politician to dress in ceremonial garb when visiting other cultures/countries. It really isn't any different than putting on a grass skirt and lei when in Hawaii.
I wouldn't be surprised if there weren't pictures of President Clinton in some sort of ceremonial/traditional outfit of some other country.
No, Coldbladed has it correct. The idea is to make him appear to be a Muslim who will enact Sharia law. It is an obscene thing in the extreme for "whoever" did it.

I think the issue (expect more to come out before March 4) is that he went to Kenya and did some politicing for a presidential candidate over there that did not have the stamp of approval from the State Department. Not only that but the other man running for the presidency was wondering why an elected US official was interfering in an election outside of the boundries/jurisdiction of the US.
The story behind the photograph is not widely known and it shows Obama in a negative light in regards to foreign relations and diplomacy.
What he did would be akin to a member of the British parliament coming to America to campaign for McCain after the British government already decided it does not want McCain to win. It would be bad enough (and quite possibly illegal_ for the parliament member to be campaigning in the first place but going against his own countries wishes makes it worse.
I like Obama, I just don't think he is the right man for the job. Nor do I feel McCain or Hillary are right for the job. All the good candidates were taken out early.

Giant Douche
Or
Turd Sandwich
Welcome to politics! Choose wisely. :)

his family comes from there so he dressed up for then, so what. i don't like him for his stand on the issues, or any demorcrat. demorcrats want to tell us how to live to take more money from us. lets try get them to work for us insted of them telling us how it should be.
live free or die fighting.
