Actually (if anyone cares) there was good reason for him to stay in the race.

No, not because he actually had a chance to win... that wasn't going to happen.

But because it kept McCain in the headlines. With all the primary news being about Clinton and Obama, McCain (and the Republicans) would have been left out of the coverage. Having Huckabee stay in the race, made the news networks continue to talk about them. And publicity... especially "Look people are voting for me" publicity... is a good thing for the campaign.
