Obama's Pastor: God Damn America, U.S. to Blame for 9/11
Obama's Pastor: God Damn America, U.S. to Blame for 9/11
The Rev. Jeremiah Wright, Obama's pastor for the last 20 years at the Trinity United Church of Christ on Chicago's south side, has a long history of what even Obama's campaign aides concede is "inflammatory rhetoric," including the assertion that the United States brought on the 9/11 attacks with its own "terrorism." picked by dollyllama 8 months ago

This guy also preaches that the government unleashed the HIV virus on blacks in order to affect their population/numbers..truly and beyond insane. The fact that Obama has not only attended his church for some 20+ years, but also has such a close personal relationship with him is downright scary. I'm not buying the 'uncle' explanation at all..don't people attend a particular church because they feel a spiritual/ethical connection with its belief system..? (/rhetorical)

Just to play devils advocate here..

How old is Obama? 45? If he joined this church back in his 20's or so it isn't hard to believe that they guy became a bit of a family friend, and leaving your church may not be all that desirable after you have made friends with the pasture and the congregation.

And we have no idea how often the pasture says stuff like this. It is easy to overlook stupid things our friends and family say if it isn't a common occurrence.

Seriously though, I am so tired of this kind of mudslinging. I am much more interested in what the candidates themselves say, rather than their supporters.

I'm more interested in what candidates do than what they say. Obama's been giving this man and his church thousands of dollars over the years in support and tithes. I don't care if the guy was my friend or not, I would not accept spiritual leadership from someone with whom I had such a substantial difference of theology, nor continue to lavishly fund their rhetoric. If the Obamas have stuck with Wright and his church for 20 years, I have to assume they don't have THAT much of a difference of opinion.
