Former New York Governor Eliot Spitzer... wait a minute...newly appointed New York Governor David Patterson was involved in several affairs, including one involving a woman on state payroll.

You know what? Good. Glad they said it, it's out of the way, that skeleton can't be "uncovered" half into his administration. So what if they had affairs? They dealt with it and it has nothing to do with their political lives. It is still far different from hiring a prostitute (when you're holding yourself up as Mr. Clean or at least Mr. Cleaning-house).

Everyone makes regrettable mistakes. Since we all fall south of our own moral compass from time to time as individuals, it behooves us, as individuals, to recognize and address our own trip-ups; not to focus too much on the next guy's problems.
Especially when he's acknowledged, reconciled, and confessed them to the community by which he's to be judged; in the public eye, his past should be forgiven of him.
If held to such close scrutiny as in a politically-charged environment, would any of US consider our lives' stories inviolable?

i think it's cool he openly admitted his affairs. it shows a lot of strength on he and his wife's part that they worked out their marriage despite BOTH of them having affairs. i hope a lot of people in our country will look at this as a good example of what marriage should and can be. our divorce rates suck. it's reassuring to hear about people not giving up hope on their spouses even after hitting rock bottom.
