He wrote it himself. Think of that. He wrote it. Himself. Posted: 8 months ago by maxriter
From Marc Ambinder at The Atlantic comes the reporting that Obama wrote his speech on race and America himself. Reports Ambinder: This wasn't a speech by committee... Obama wrote the speech himself, working on it for two days and nights.... and showed it to only a few of his top advisers.

sorry the fact that he wrote it himself means nothing. It is a speech. It is a great speech. Fine.
That doesn't mean diddly-squat other than he can craft a fine piece of art.

It is designed to get him votes. It is designed to deflect criticism of him.

The fact that he wrote it doesn't mean that it is more or less factual.

I'm not saying it isn't factual either. I am just saying it doesn't matter who wrote it.

I dunno, I think it matters a great deal that he wrote it. It shows that he actually cares about the topic enough to write it himself when most politicians would have just read something someone else wrote for them. It shows he's not just good at giving speeches like most people say, but he can actualy think for himself and without someone telling him what to do or say as if he were on strings..

It is more impressive yes. I merely meant that it doesn't make the speech any more factual. It doesn't even show that he cares about the subject as much as he cares about what it is doing to his election chances.

I don't feel that the pastor's views is a valid reason for someone not to vote for him.

Haha, no I did not. And in all honesty being ignorant on Obama and his beliefs is something I couldn't care less about.

I take exception to that. You have a RESPONSIBILITY to yourself, me and every other American to know as much as you can about each and every candidate. Sheep flocking to the polls 7 and 3 years ago are the reason that we're in the position we're in right now. I'm willing to bet your ignorance won't be so funny to you when it's YOUR job that goes overseas or YOU can't afford to feed yourself or your family while the rich get richer.

Sometimes I question whether this country has the ability to even BEGIN to right itself. This is one of those times.

I agree that it doesn't make it any more factual, but I do appreciate the fact that the man who could possibly be our next president CAN write. The current jobholder, I'm not so sure about.

Aside from that, do I detect a trace of political cynicism? ;)
