Republicans: Only Our Pastors Can Say Crazy Crap Posted: 8 months ago by 2manyusernames
Neither Jerry Falwell nor Pat Robertson ever retracted their view that America provoked the 9/11 attacks by doing things to anger God. John Hagee continues to believe that the City of New Orleans got what it deserved with Katrina. And James Inhofe -- who happens to still be a Republican U.S. Senator -- blamed America for the 9/11 attacks

I was going to post something similar the other day...here are the links to more info on Hagee and his extreme fundamentalist views:

As a Christian people like this piss me off because they make me look insane by comparison. I mean, Jesus forgave a great number of terrible terrible people of their sins without a second thought. But noooo, these hardcores make it their mission to do the opposite and also to decide what right and wrong mean. The Christian-right is getting less and less like Jesus and instead more and more like the piggish rulers that Jesus railed against. GG!

One difference here is that Falwell and company say the Giant Spaghetti Monster did it while Wright says the US government did it. One group is blaming it on an imaginary creature while the other blames it on real people.

Wait, you got that mixed up, you must mean one is imaginary and the other is the almighty Flying Spaghetti Monster, let's keep it real.

The Christian Right have never followed the teachings of Jesus, they call themselves the right because that's what they feel they are; right.

fantastic post...right on the nose...
people have mentioned this before, yet the 'media' rolls along...this nation's latent bigotry is stirring, and is due for a relapse anytime now...
the real issue, however, is freedom of speech....
either we have it, or we don't.
while i disagree with nearly everyone of these folks...i will defend their right to say it.
that being said, Wright is much more correct than Falwell et al regarding the causal background of '911'. you can go around pissing off people all you want, but one day someone will punch you in the mouth...that is what happened. I mean, our government has for more than half a century treated people's homes, land, culture, and lives like toys...that sort of thing pisses people off.

they are not blaming the FSM, they are blaming people (loads of 'em) that they say are fiendish...not only homosexuals, but people who don't kill them for being so.
at least Wright is talking about something that can be discussed in the world of rational and real fact, rather than the irrational world of the hate-right.
