As long as they help whoever ImNotBlue wants to be president then I'm ok with this.

Besides it's not like any of our votes count anyway. Unless someof you are in the electoral college.

That's why I use mail in ballots, because it's paper and I know that it cannot be changed.

I hate this argument. Your vote decides who goes to the electoral college, so your vote isn't wasted.

Seems to me he is saying that if the hackers help the guy/gal YOU want he's okay with them doing so.

why downvote him? Why say he has anger issues?

Am I missing some nuance here?

PulsisX has been attacking me in a variety of threads, ever since I disagreed with an opinion of his/hers.

That's why I was mentioned by name, before I had even commented. Also, I have never talked about electronic voting systems, or possible fraud, so I'm not sure why PulsisX thinks they know my opinion on it.

But the notion you are expressing is correct... the "hacking" issue goes away as soon as "your guy" gets elected. Remember the 2006 elections... there were news stories all over the place of potential hacking attempts, how unsafe the voting systems were, etc etc... however, after the Democrats won a majority of their races, those stories immediately stopped. There were a number of conservative commentators who made of point of this, wondering, "Where are all the people who were protesting Diebold the day before"... but as you said, 'When you guy wins, it's no big deal.'

Good movie. Everyone thought it was bad, but I don't understand why.

The only thing I thought was really stupid was the bug in the voting machines. The number of votes skewed by the double letters in the candidates name? Speaking as an IT professional, that's dumber than the the aliens in Signs being killed by water.

Ah, dramatic convenience. It is the writer's world. They get to make up the rules. Screw reality.

Blue to say I am attacking you is a bit dramatic don't you think? I admit that I have directed several comments over a number of political threads toward you but I did it in a good natured, kidding way, hardly what I would call an attack. If you feel attacked I will stop doing it because I don't want you to think that I have any kind of grudge against you. I enjoy reading your posts because you often times come at things from a completely different direction as I would.

I will endeavor to only add your name to my comments when absolutely necessary.

Going beyond the Electoral College, who picks who you get to pick to be president? Seems like your choices are often pretty limited. Our elections are dominated by the 2 major parties to the point where any 3rd party contender isn't even allowed to debate in the public forum. Within those parties is a pretty small demographic of people. Until this year it was only rich white men that had most likely attended Yale or some Ivy league school. They are working on a level you don't see and are not allowed to see even if you cared to. If it makes you feel better to vote than by all means do so but don't kid yourself. The choice is made for you.

Vote Yes on prop 11!

Unfortunately you have no assurance they will even count those votes.

Yeah, that's the problem...didn't wanna mention it though.

Paper ballots are more likely to be counted than computer votes.

That's why I support paper ballots.

But the electoral college isn't some secret meeting that we don't know what goes on. When a state elects someone (say Bush), the party picks consistent and loyal Republicans to send them to vote for him.

It's a form of a Republic, which is what we have at nearly every level. It's not like our votes don't count though.

I only vote absentee/VBM now. Plus I work at the polls.

California is NOT allowed to use the (formerly)Diebold machines. They were found to be insecure, so we still use the ink-a-vote stamp thing. It's a bit better, but not perfect. I don't know of any election involving more than 2 people that could be safe from tampering in some form or another.

I am really missing how supporting paper ballots makes up for the fact that we are forced to pick a president from a pool of 10 people.

Oh, I'm sorry, I misunderstood what you said.

It's our own fault. If we all voted for the only person we agreed with, we wouldn't have this two-party system.

Unfortunately, we all subscribe to the idea that only a democrat or a republican can win, so we only vote for them.

Are you agreeing with me?

Also I have not voted for a democrat or republican for president ever. But I have voted.

I think I might be :).

I'm voting Libertarian lol. Hopefully Bob Barr can get a huge percentage of the vote like Perot did, though hopefully enough to propel the LP into major party status.
