 The Clintons' Terror Pardons
The Clintons' Terror Pardons
We all know about the pardons that Bill Clinton auctioned off to the highest bidders as he was leaving office. There were others as well, those that were sold for votes. Those that included a group responsible for 146 bombings and a string of armed robberies all involving hundreds of deaths and thousands of injuries. But a vote is a vote and at least the clintons wore a flag pin. picked by 2manyusernames 7 months ago

Um, without getting into all the pardon details, I'm surprised at you of all people, posting something by the Wall Street Journal and written by a relative of one of the pilots of a 9/11 airliner. A double bias.

Any real data on the "auctioning off" accusation or is it just a supposition. I couldn't find any data myself.

Not only is this way old news it's unusually biased for something you would post.
This in no way is meant to defend any of the pardons just wondering why this kind of item suddenly appears.

Anything to do with any of the candidates by chance???

no just felt some might find it interesting.

Sounds fairly accurate. Of course you can't prove the reasons for the pardon, but they are troubling as was many of his last minute pardons

Remove the conclusions for his reasons, take just the facts and you still have another troubling pardon

The auctioning of pardons as been discussed quite a bit previously in a number of places. It has to do with the massive donations from those he pardoned as well as other benefits gained by the Clintons and those close to them for the pardons. You can't prove a quid pro quo but it is suspicious to say the least.

No arguement with the data content, the conclusions were a bit troubling as to fact. I haven't and don't intend to do the research but my guess is that you would find similar and questionable pardons in many administrations.

It's the good old boy network right out where you can see it. It will be interesting to see the pardons coming up next year as well.

I would add the pardon to Nixon right up there with the crappy ones.

You are probably right. Clinton's was just a bit more in-your-face than others.

The Nixon pardon makes for an interesting debate.

My initial and gut reaction is equal to yours. It was a crappy one, although it wasn't one bought by a bribe.

Some say that Ford's pardon of Nixon saved America from a horrible drawn-out controversy that would have caused severe harm. That doing so cost Ford any chance of a re-election. Ford knew this but made the sacrifice for the good of the nation.

Not sure I believe that, but can't say it is poppy cock with 100% conviction either.
