I'm getting annoyed by the misuse of the term "Terrorist".

Terrorism is the act of striking TERROR in to peoples heart. Acts of war (bombing a country, and invading) are not acts of terror, because they go way beyond just striking terror.

This also means that terrorism is not an effective tool for war. If you want to defeat an enemy, you need more then just terrorism to do that. Terrorism is a long term strategy with no victory in the end. Just ask the IRA and ETA how effective terrorism was for them.

Back on the subject of usage of the word "Terrorism": Any act that doesn't strike terror into peoples hearts, is not terrorism.

I think they'd say ultimately pretty effective. There is no way that the St Andrew's Agreement would be in place without the decades of terrorist actions by the IRA et al.

I get what you're saying. It's pretty hard nowadays to find a popular word which hasn't been cliche'd half to death.
