I have to agree with the comment calling clinton, obama, and mccain to task for not voting on this bill.

To come out and speak about their feelings on it, but not to vote is trying to play both ends.

McCain can point out the obvious reasons why it shouldn't be passed, Obama can ignore the severely bad parts and focus on the good parts. That gets both of them appreciation from certain parties/demographics.

Yet they don't vote on it, so they don't have to have their voting record come back and cost them.

Definitely a cop-out.

As the comment said, the fact that they are campaigning isn't much of an excuse for such a bill. Especially for McCain.

Yes, Bush did veto it but unfortunately it looks veto-proof. Passed by a very large margin.

It wouldn't have made any difference if any of the candidates voted no, it would have passed anyway.

Possibly a good sign that they didn't go for the symbolic gesture and the politics as usual gambit.

The bill is a disgrace though.
