The Military of the US is deployed in many countries. This is due to many factors: the Cold War, in which the US government needed troops around the globe to counter the threat of the Soviet Union; and more recently, The War on Terror. well on this date 196 years ago. After years of fighting the French, UK started to blockade the US to prevent trading, impressing Americans into fighting for the British as well as helping the native Americans in their fight against the US. Because of this, America declared war on the UK and invaded Canada. The war was incredibly costly to both sides and is also the inspiration for The Star Spangled Banner.

And one of the first outdoor sports to be played on these shores. An 1844 cricket match between teams from the United States and Canada was the first international sporting event in the modern world, predating the revival of the Olympic Games by more than 50 years.

Very interesting and informative article.
