Please note: By posting this I'm not trying to suggest that Obama is an anti-Semite or anything like that... just getting another story (one that probably won't make the papers here) out in the open.

It IS relevant, however, to talk about (1) who a candidate surrounds themselves with, and (2) especially important because Obama is already shown signs of struggle for the Jewish voters (whom traditionally vote Democratic). (IMO) Stories like this won't make his candidacy any easier, especially if these trends continue.

PS: Incase anybody recognized the name, Zbigniew Brzezinski, is the father of MSNBC personality Mika Brzezinski.

Seriously, just as a heads up I'm gonna be downvoting ANY Obama stories unless it's SERIOUSLY interesting.

I have nothing against Obama, I don't know enough about American politics or any of the candidates to have a real opinion, I'm just sick of seeing "Obama Farted In Public", "Obama Forgot To Eat Breakfast", "Obama Mentioned The Word JEW" stories on Plime. It's getting ridiculous

Did you read the article? Where in it does it describe Obama as playing the victim? Where does it mention ANYthing that Obama has done in regards to this?

While I won't join you in downvoting them (at the moment) I wholeheartedly agree with the idea.

Well, yes you did. By saying that you will downvote posts like this in the future, you are effectively telling me what to post and what not to post. If I post stories like this, you'll try to delete them, because you're bored. That strikes me as awfully selfish. If you don't like it, or they don't interest you... skip it.

Tundra's comment was fine. If Tundra thinks Obama is cliché, I assume he'll/she'll ignore it. But Tundra also says that unlike you, he/she won't downvote (ie: attempt to delete) these posts.

Before you posted, there were other people who had commented on this article. And while you may see yourself as more important, or somehow better than them... they appeared to be interested.

So to repeat once more... if you don't like it, or are uninterested... move on. But don't try to dictate how or what I post around here, because it doesn't suit your desires. It's not always about you.

My comment had everything to do with the topic, the topic being Obama.


I didn't have to comment, no, nor have I on any other Obama stories. But this I felt I wanted to comment on. I don't want to see Plime being a place to post political propaganda that happens to fit in with the posters political agenda/views. For instance, you yourself have submitted 17 (a third of all your submissions) Obama articles, all biased against Obama. That's my opinion and I'm entitled to it.

What's your problem? If you don't like the story, ignore it. If you don't like Obama or stories about him, fine. but whether you like it or not, he's in the news, in a big way and he (and Hilary and McCain) can't and won't be ignored by the majority of the American population. Thanks for your input and opinion on the topic. It's nice to be able to express your opinion when you feel the need, eh? You see, that's the beauty of plime, someone like yourself who has contributed nothing to the site has the same right to comment as even the most active members of plime.

Take a good look at the rating next to this post, it's not got a lot of love, that's because Plimes being flooded with Obama articles and people evidently are as uninterested as I am.

It's a wiki site and just as Imnotblue can submit Obama articles to his hearts content, I can comment that I'm tired of seeing them.

You're missing the whole point, DL. I'm sick of seeing all the Obama articles too, but I'm not so full of myself not to realize that Plime's bigger than me, so others might find them interesting, so I'm not going to come right out and try to dictate to someone what they should or should not post. I just ignore it. I thought the Plime community had come to some sort of understanding that if someone wanted to make a sort of rule, that they would bring it up in it's own forum thread and open it up to discussion by the entire community. Not just jump into a single post and imperiously dictate what should or shouldn't be posted.

I think that in reality, many Plimates probably agree with you about all the Obama stuff, but you somehow always find the approach that comes off as rude and condescending.

But it's ok for you to jump in a thread a day after I made a comment and tell me I'm rude and condescending and that my opinion or at least the way I said it is wrong? That just smacks of double standards to me.

I was expressing an opinion: 1 a: a view, judgment, or appraisal formed in the mind about a particular matter, not "making a rule".

Hmmmmm, nuff said on this subject from me I think. My problem is I seem to feed comments like this by answering them. Lesson learnt finally.

I'm going to make this really really quick... because I have some new Obama articles to post. :)

1) The issue really is the "downvoting." Because on Plime "downvoting" has the ability to delete, not just show (or not show) love... actively downvoting posts because they "bore" is more an attack, than a comment on the content.

2) The Obama articles I've posted, many of which are negative stories, are often not about him... and include statements about how the opinions may not actually reflect his views. They are articles of social significance, things that other people are talking about.

3) I don't dislike Obama. I may disagree with him on some policies, but I don't think he's a bad guy. I recently listened to his book, "The Audacity of Hope," and while I found it to be a little heavy handed, he does have some good ideas. So I don't really mean for my posts to be an attack on him.

4) How are my Obama posts, any different than other people's McCain, Bush, Iraq, or FOX News posts? Why are my Obama posts worthy of a long diatribe and downvote, but others aren't? I disagree and am sometimes bored by those topics, but if someone else is interested, go for it. I'll debate if I feel it needs it... move on if it's better to ignore.

If I downvote one of your posts even before anyone else has upvoted it I can't delete it. Do the maths. It takes at least a -15 to delete and I'm 27 and you are 16. I won't insult your intelligence by doing the sum for you.

Yes, and it will take one more person to get rid of it all together. One more person who is also "bored" by the topic, or likes the candidate, or disagrees politically. And then effectively Plime has become just another partisan website, where only one point of view can be expressed.

Well, actually yes. I post on another website where you can upvote, or downvote other poster's comments. But you can't delete them. That allows everyone to still see the post, comment, or whatever... and doesn't give all the power to a select few.

The problem around here (and perhaps I should start a forum thread about this) is that as karma points go up, there's a lot of power in the hands of a few people. Even with my 16 points, there are people with over 30 points who could delete my posts at will. When Plime first started, and everyone only had a few points, getting to 15 points meant a bunch of people had to downvote you to delete you... now, all you need is one or two high point people, and you're done!

Maybe downvote deleting should be based on the number of people who downvote... just the karma points.
