Is There Room For Humor In Today’s Political Reporting?
Oh, man. One little joke about Barack Obama and that Middle Eastern fellow with the rhyming name, and her inbox is piled high with squawky offended e-mail. It’s enough to make Jeanne Moos (CNN) wish she were back interviewing three-legged pantyhose or even two-headed turtles. picked by ImNotBlue 4 months ago

If by "today's political reporting" you mean "America's current political reporting," then I may agree with this statement.

Our political reporting is often quite funny and sarcastic, not to mention the fact that there are a few programmes that are designed to be satires directed at our current political climate. I like it because our political leaders will happily participate and be poked at, even if it is campaign time.

When I lived in Edmonton, the morning headline could refer to our former premier as "king Ralph," for example, and nobody would bat an eye (except the NDPers, maybe). Humour makes all of the political news bearable, IMO.
