Tragic. I loved Meet the Press with him not giving any politicians an easy ride. He was a great journalist and writer and he will be missed greatly.

As a news junkie... this is simply unbelievable. When I first saw it, I didn't think it was real.

I am in total shock.

Very sad news, he kept an even footing in the often biased world of journalism. He was one of a kind.

"thou shalt not whine", the sign that sat on the floor in front this desk...

we should all remember that, as well as his love of family, his love of country, and his resounding and unquestionable fairness

Nice picture of Tim, steve.

Russert was named numerous times as father of the year, recently wrote a book about his father, and always seemed like a great family guy...and as others have said trustworthy and down to earth.

Gonna miss seeing you big guy.

I was shocked and saddened to hear this today.

Rest In Peace.

Way too young to die of a heart attack. My father died at 42 of a massive heart attack. It brings back alot of memories.

I met him once, briefly. Down to earth, and had the ability to make you feel important when you were speaking.

He also gave one of the most honest portrayals of American society in a speech that evening that I have ever heard.

A truly great and genuine man.
