The fact that the law would make the incentive to kill the child greater in order to avoid having a witness. This was stated in the majority opinion.

Yup. Some part of the Bill of Rights... leave the remainder to the several states to decide, blah blah blah....

Wow, maybe he'll, even, oh, I dunno, "Support and defend the Constitution..."?

This guy is funny.

He says he's a civil libertarian, but he votes for the Patriot Act and supports the Death Penalty.

Why, sir, is it the state's right to determine death penalty, but not for abortion or gay marriage? Why, Mr. Obama, does the state get to determine the life of a person, but cannot determine how health care should be provided. Why must the federal government determine educational standards but leave the life of a human being to the state.

Mr. Obama, are we going to follow the Constitution or not? I'd like to know before I vote. The current President only follows it when it applies to what he wants. Shall you do the same? I'd like a President with morals and standards, not one that jumps at the opportunity to prove himself "caring" or "republican friendly." Please show you have some sort of a backbone, because lately you've been showing yourself as just another spineless politician.

Change? Please. I have more change in my back pocket.

hes never opposed the death penalty, and I agree if a person rapes a child or a baby I think they should be put to death and so do 4 of the 9 people that voted.. one vote the other way and it would've passed, that has to say something.. and why does he have to be classified as a civil liberwhater-(dont feel like looking up that word..) any human being should know that the rape of a child is a greusome and one of the most wrong crimes one can do..

I mean all rape is bad, but a child?

being different by supporting the patriot act(not sure if thats true but jsut gonna assume u know waht ur talking about) and the death penalty is a change form whats expected of him from his position.. so is there a hole in ur back pocket b/c he's basically the epitome of change IMO

<-- i used a big word.. epitome.. hehe

I've seen Olberman's show *once* and a few clips online. I despise the guy. Plus, he gets a hard on every time Obama's name is mentioned.

He classified himself as a civil libertarian. Basically that means someone who values natural rights. I know he was just paying lip service, but my point is to prove what a hypocrite he is.

Should they be put to death because of it? They didn't even kill the child. I understand people's reasoning behind capital punishment for murder, but for rape?

But he says he cares about civil liberties and votes differently was my point. It's not about what's expected, but rather what he says versus what he does.

If you mean change as in, he says one thing, and votes another, you're totally right :)

I think my idea should be implemented. Take all rapists (no matter the age of their victims) and put them on an island (after being sterilized) and let them have at each other. They can rape each other all they want, they get their jollies off, no one else has to worry about them. Now, this of course would be for the ones who rape maliciously. Not a teenager who has sex with his girlfriend and girlfriend's mommy and daddy dont like that she is growing up.
