Here is my prediction...
Someone, actual several someones will come here and post hateful comments wishing Rush an early and painful death. They will insult the man, his listeners and state that he is a talentless hack.
Everytime Rush, Ann Coulter, and the like are mentioned here on Plime and elsewhere there is a disgusting amount of vitriol spewed, literally wishing the death and rape of the individuals.
Meanwhile when Al Franken and the like are mentioned here, the worst that is said is he's isn't funny or jokes are made about his proven ineffectiveness as a talk show host.
It really shows you the difference between the right and the left.

Personally, I don't care for Rush's program. I think he's somewhat of a phony (I don't think he necessarily believes everything that he professes to believe), and he doesn't interact with listeners enough... that's the part I like, the debates, not the preaching.
I posted the story because, well, that's a lot of money, a lot of listeners, and (apparently) a lot of influence.
And to help get the hater's heart rate up... angry blogging is almost like exercise. ;)

I'm more familiar with Limbaugh's show compared to Franken's so I really can't fairly compare the two as far as overall "behavior, mainly because I don't have satellite radio.
I do know that anybody that blindly follows another (be it Coulter, Franken, Limbaugh etc.)without question is not doing themselves nor society any favors.
This goes for any "Ditto" head as well as whatever Franken fanatics may be called.
Hell, even sports fanatics make me nervous. :)
In the short time I've visited this site, I get the feeling that the majority of folks here are of a Liberal leaning. I've randomly visited Conservative websites and read comments as rude towards the Left as what you describe as having read here concerning the Right. To say that vile rudness is a characteristic only on the left skews the picture. We all have that capacity, especially if one hasn't thought out their position and has only "jumped on a bandwagon" to be part of a team so to speak.
In closing I agree with what I think you're saying. If one can only get their point across by insult and foul language then they haven't thought their argument out well enough or its flawed from the beginning.
(I hope that makes some sense, I've yet to eat today and my blood glucose levels are low:)

You have to wonder if this reaction is due to the bile and hatred they constantly spew in their programs... if you are constantly going on the air and touting the merits of ignorance, segregation, abuse of privlidge and hate-mongering... how can you expect a positive reaction? I understand that some peoples posts about these two may be... harsh at best... you cant act like the Wicked Queen and expect everyone to treat you like Snow White... its rediculous to expect...
if you ask me... both Rush and Ann WANT this type of reaction to their comments... they WANT to be hated and reviled by the left... its the only way that people wont notice that they really dont know what they are talking about... I put them both in the same category of Howard Stern... all shock and no substance...
And to say that it is exsclusively a LEFT activity to pounce on these two is just selective acknoledgement of a wide spread problem... Post something about Oberman and see how long it takes the followers of the Right to come out and vilanize him... it wont take long I can promise you that... perhaps it WONT be as vile as what you would get from a post about Rush or Ann... but then again... you wont hear Oberman saying that 911 widows are milking their husbands' deaths, or that Michael J. Fox is "faking" his illness for political purposes... The reaction you get is proportionate to the actions you take...

I was the only commenter, pointing out that it was a dupe.
The post STILL got a +73
6 days ago, I posted an Olbermann-related story, about how some on the left are upset over his recent flip-flop regarding FISA.
There were a bunch of comments... most either attacking me, attacking folks on the right, or just kinda ignoring the actual article.
The post only got a +38 (and that includes my automatic +16 for posting it).
So it appears your theory doesn't quite hold up.
AND, if you really want, I can post links detailing some of Olbermann's "offenses." The most offensive, of course, was the Nazi salute he gave at a TV Critics convention. He was attempting to insult Bill O'Reilly (big surprise), and decided the best way to do that was to hold up an O'Reilly mast, and give the “Seig Heil.” The issue was addressed by the ADL, who was rightfully offended.

O'Reilly, Olberman, Franken and Rush are the kinds of commenters whose remarks fail to inform me. Why should I care about their opinions? I don't understand the popularity of shows like theirs where people shout at and insult each other.
