Got to admire standing on principals but even his wife didn't agree with him.

I, for one, applaud this mans decision. Not that I wanted his job lost, but why honor a total douchebag ?

Man, I live in NC. Its been a Helms love fest for a week. Ugh.

Nothing like a good old fashioned bigot who supported the Contras killing innocent men, women and children in Nicaragua. When this was brought to his attention his reply was "Well, they're just Communists—they deserve to die".

As Mark Twain said (I think it was Twain) "I will wish no man dead, but I will write letters in support of their funeral" or something to that effect.

I think that his superiors drew too hard of a line. A short administrative leave possibly, but forced into early retirement! Thats overdoing it.

Doesn't that automatically make him wrong?

I've heard this quite often over the past week; "I may have disagreed with him but I respect the fact that he stood by his princilpes".

Hell, Genghis Kahn stood by his principles, Pol Pot stood by his.
