The McCain-Palin ticket has been making much of the fact that the Arizona senator wanted more troops in Iraq as early as 2003. Yet he supported Bush for re-election, wrong-headed Iraq policy and all. He could have done the truly "maverick" thing and tried to unseat Bush so as to improve the execution of the war. He put the interests of the Republican Party over the good of his country.
