This is pure bulls**t.

What because someone somewhere might post child porn to one of the thousands of alt* newsgroups, they censor the entire group??

That is outrageous.

Of course no one cares, because Usenet isn't used so much these days, but why stop there?

There are links that point to all sorts of illegal content. Shut down the entire net.

Ban all cameras and video equipment since they may be used to record child pornography. Ban paper, ink, pencils, charcoal, etc for the same reason.

Sometimes children get abducted at the mall, so ban all malls. Or perhaps just ban children and males.

Obviously I could go on and on giving examples of the exact same thing that would not be acceptable.

However we are supposed to praise it here?

Seriously censoring an entire group encompassing discussions on every single topic you can imagine and those you can't imagine because there might possibly perhaps be something posted to the group that is illegal. (and of course there is no place else to post it. It isn't like banning alt* groups will lower child pornography by even a single image.
