Snickers Ad Pulled for Offence to Homosexual Men
Snickers Ad Pulled for Offence to Homosexual Men
The Mars Corporation has pulled an advert depicting Mr T harassing a speed walker. This decision is in response to complaints from the US that it is offensive to gay men, even though it has never been shown on US television.

The ad itself is in the comments. picked by pocksucket 4 months ago

This is the ad. If you are gay, try not to be too offended by this:

That's the same ad running here too. I like Snickers. I used to eat a bar each day after school.

Now, say that instead there was some nerdy white guy who was trying to dance, and he was told that he was a disgrace to manliness. Would that ad get banned? Methinks not.

Were they really trying to make a homophobic insult, or just making fun of how much speed walking makes you look like a 'tard?

That ad is highly offensive to nuts!

Being that Snickers contain peanuts, which are not nuts, but legumes.

How long must these nutceptions continue?!

The article said they pulled the ad after just 2 complaints. I watched the ad a few times and I don't see any anti-homosexual content. Mr. T is attacking the man because he's speed walking and looking silly instead of running. The whole idea behind the commercial is that real men RUN and wimps speed walk.

Shouldn't gay men be allowed to decide whether or not they are offended by the ad?
