If I was either raped or killed by that guy, I'd hate to see him get the death penalty. I'd want him to rot in prison for the rest of his life.
(yeah, I guess there'll always be a debate about the death penalty, but to me it's wrong for the exact reason stated above...I don't think of it as a punishment; we all die, and most of us in a lot worse way than a needle)

There are several different words used in the Bible, which all translate as 'kill'. So, which ones are being referred to by our Christian pacifist? Primarily, he refers to the Commandment in Exodus 20:13 which says "Thou shalt not kill". Ah! says the reader, the pacifist is right, for God says that we must not kill! Yes, He does. But, let us see what the word 'kill' means in this context....
The word translated 'kill' here is ratsach, meaning to commit premeditated murder; to slay, or to kill as an avenger; an intentional slayer; to assassinate. It can also mean accidental murder (i.e. manslaughter, without intention to kill). We are told by God that we must not commit intentional (unwarranted) murder. He says nothing in the Commandment about war, the death penalty, or self-defence. (How could He, when it is He who sent armies to war, or to be killed?)
What about the death penalty? Look at Leviticus 20:2...there we find something which will horrify all do-gooders and pacifists: "whosoever...giveth of his seed to Molech; he shall surely be put to death: the people of the land shall stone him with stones."! So, the God Who the pacifists say commanded us not to kill, also tells us to stone people to death! But look at the word for 'kill' in this text - it is muwth, meaning judicial killing: to have one executed, to die (as an individual penalty), to perish (as a national penalty).

This guy was super, super violent with his victims.
It makes me nauseous reading what he did to them.
He probably has it pretty good in prison, 3 squares a day, work out equipment, reading material, tv, educational tools.

The context is certainly debatable based on interpretation but the meaning of those words as they were broken down is not debatable.

Personally, I think the death penalty is impractical. It involves many costly appeals and has been shown to have no deterrent effect. So why do it?
