Bravo. That is their job. They could try and ask "pretty please" to all criminals to turn themselves in, confess, give full details on actions and accessories, but that rarely works.

Yeah, if they actually found enough evidence to be sure it was him, I'd be okay with it too. As it is, I feel like the FBI has really messed up this investigation. They have falsely accused someone in the case before, and they messed up his life pretty bad. I want some real proof that Ivins did it, because the speculation the FBI came up with is just not doing it for me.

I was suspicious when I heard the news that the FBI was totally pinning the anthrax stuff on this guy. He HAD been a suspect, it's true, but that was nearly 7 years ago, and he wasn't charged or held.

It's just too convenient to say "yes, this is the man!" now that he is dead. It smacks of them trying to pacify us and assure us that they are still a competent agency regarding terrorism.

They SAY they found "new papers" in the deceased man's possessions, but really, does anyone trust the FBI?

Do you really think bribing witnesses and accosting relatives in the hospital is good investigation protocall? I'm all for prosecuting the guilty, but these heavy handed tactics rarely net the right person... it sounds to me like they wanted a prosecution, regardless of the evedence...

The main witness against Ivins, "Jean Duley" herself has a history that, at the very least, raises questions about her credibility. She has a rather lengthy involvement with the courts in Frederick, including two very recent convictions for driving under the influence -- one from 2007 and one from 2006 -- as well as a complaint filed against her for battery by her ex-husband.

Rather than secretly observing this guy, they made their presence known and openly monitored his every movement, taking his possessions and bribing his friends and family. The guy was already mentally unstable, and it's no wonder that he killed himself! Part of me wonders if that wasn't the plan all along...
